Why are certain operating systems not supported by Information Technology?
In today’s rapidly evolving digital world, keeping your devices secure is more important than ever. Hackers and malicious actors are constantly developing new ways to exploit vulnerabilities in outdated software. This makes your personal and business data highly vulnerable if you do not keep your devices up to date.
Updating your operating system (OS) does more than add features or improve performance. It also plays a critical role in protecting your device from security threats. Manufacturers release updates specifically to fix bugs and patch security flaws. Running an outdated OS is like leaving a door unlocked, making it far easier for cybercriminals to access sensitive information.
Supported Operating Systems
Information Technology provides support for devices running the following operating systems, as long as they continue to receive regular updates from the manufacturer:
- Android
- Apple MacOS, iOS, and iPad OS
- Microsoft Windows
For the most accurate and up-to-date information about supported versions, please refer to your device manufacturer’s documentation. Staying informed about whether your device is still supported is a key step in maintaining both security and functionality.
Unsupported Operating Systems
While Information Technology aims to offer flexibility, we do not currently provide support for:
- Chromebooks
- Linux-based operating systems
Additionally, Information Technology will not support devices running Android, Apple devices, or Windows if the operating system has not been updated within the last two years. Such devices often cannot run the latest applications and pose significant security risks.
