If you're receiving unwanted emails, you can block specific senders or domains to automatically move those messages to your Junk Email folder. This works in both Outlook on the web (including New Outlook) and the Classic Outlook desktop application.
How do I block a sender in Outlook on the web?
Note: These steps also apply to New Outlook for Windows.
- Select Settings (gear icon), then choose Mail > Junk email.
- Under Blocked senders and domains, enter the email address or domain you want to block.
- Select Add, then choose Save.
Note: Messages in your Junk Email folder are automatically deleted after 14 days.
How do I block a sender in Classic or New Outlook?
- Right-click a message from the sender, then select Junk > Block Sender.
- You can follow the same steps to unblock a sender.
How do I unblock a sender?
- Go to Settings > Mail > Junk email in Outlook on the web.
- Select the email address or domain you want to remove from the list.
- Click Remove, then select Save.
How do I prevent messages from going to Junk?
If messages from a trusted sender or domain are going to Junk, add them to your Safe Senders list.
- Go to Settings > Mail > Junk email
- Enter the email address or domain under Safe senders and domains, then select Add.
Note: Blocked senders can still email you, but their messages are automatically redirected to the Junk Email folder.
