What email application can I use with my school or work email?
Why can’t I use a third-party mail application?
To protect institutional data and reduce security risks, all unsupported mail applications (Apple Mail, Mailbird, Thunderbird, etc.) have been disabled. Microsoft Outlook is the only approved mail application for accessing school or work email.
You can access your email using the Outlook 365 application on your device or by signing in through Outlook on the web.
Why are third-party applications not supported?
Third-party applications can weaken security by requesting excessive permissions, storing your data on external servers, or exposing it to unauthorized access. These applications are not managed by the System and may introduce the following risks:
- Unauthorized access to your device
- Copying and storing your data externally
- Sharing data with outside parties
- Obstructing data deletion
- Unannounced functional changes
Why is Microsoft Outlook the approved email application?
Outlook for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android is the only application that supports key Office 365 security features. It provides full access to your email, calendar, and tasks, and integrates directly with OneDrive, Teams, and other Microsoft services.
