If this is not your first laptop and OneDrive is not set up already on your previous laptop, enable OneDrive sync on your old computer. OneDrive should be set up to sync your desktop, documents, and picture folder on any previously used laptop to your new laptop.
- Once received, take out your new laptop, plug it into power, and then open it.
NOTE: When you open the computer, the startup process will begin unless the battery needs to be charged. Make sure the computer is plugged into power during the initial setup process. When it completes, you should see a screen like the picture in the next step. -
Connect to the internet.
NOTE: If WiFi is used, you will see a few screens prior to this one. Select language (English), country/region (United States), keyboard layout (US), second keyboard layout (skip), and then connect to WiFi. -
Once connected, you will be asked to sign in to your school/work account. On the sign-in page, input your work email. Then, click Next.
NOTE: If critical updates are needed, the laptop may reboot before prompting you to sign in. -
Enter your password, and click Sign in.
NOTE: The "Forgot my password" link will not work. If you forgot your password, please use a device that is connected to WiFi/data to access the Password Reset Portal. You can also call Help Desk for assistance. -
You will be prompted to complete MFA with DUO. If you have not enrolled in DUO yet, you will be prompted to enroll. See Duo setup instructions.

It will take a few minutes to sign you in. Please be patient.

When asked to set up Windows Hello (face sign in), click Yes, set up.
NOTE: "The biometric data used to support Windows Hello is stored on the local device only. It doesn't roam and is never sent to external devices or servers." See this Microsoft article for more info on Windows Hello. -
After scanning your face, you will see this screen that "you're all set!". Click Next.

You will be asked to create a PIN as a back-up for Windows Hello. Click Next.

Before setting your PIN, you will need to complete MFA through Microsoft. You will be asked to authenticate with your preferred MFA method (e.g., Microsoft Authenticator, SMS or phone call). If you have not enrolled in Microsoft MFA yet, you will be prompted to enroll via the More information required prompt. See how to setup Microsoft Authenticator.

Set up your new PIN, then click OK.

After your PIN is created, you will see an "All set!" screen. Click OK.
- Your computer has now been set up. Leave the laptop connected to power and the internet for at least 60 minutes for applications and updates to install. Do not use the laptop during this time. If you use the laptop during this time, you may interrupt the installation and update processes from completing properly.
NOTE: As the computer installs and updates, you may see it reboot a couple of times during this period of time. This is expected. - After the 60 minutes, you may be prompted to reboot the laptop. Reboot if prompted.
- At this point, most if not all installations and updates should be complete, and you will now be able to use the laptop.

- If you will be working on campus/on-site and need to use the printer, browse to \\eg-1905-pcut01 and double-click on the "PaperCut Printer" to install it. Make sure you are connected to VPN. You may be prompted to enter your email and password.
