There are some students, faculty, and staff that deal with confidential patient data, and per HIPPA policy need to follow certain tenets. This policy has been implemented into Zoom for users licensed through the school.
An AD security group was created, SG_Zoom_HIPPA, that adds users to a Zoom subaccount that enables compliance via ADFS.
How do I move a user from a regular Zoom account over to HIPPA?
- In App Portal, add SG_Zoom_HIPPA to the user's account.
- This should take 30 minutes to an hour to sync. You can confirm it is complete once SG_Zoom_HIPPA has been added to the user's AD account.
- Have the user sign into their Zoom account online, (Sign In - Zoom), with their SSO credentials.
- They will see a screen about signing into a different account. Select 'Switch to the New Account'
- To switch, select 'I Acknowledge and Switch'
- An email will be sent to the student/employee email address. Have the user check their email.
- Look for the confirmation email from Zoom. Click on 'Switch to the new account'.
- To confirm switching to the HIPPA account, select 'I Acknowledge and Switch'.
- They will receive a success message. Click 'Sign in Now'.
- They should now be signed into Zoom under the new account.
